In the wake of the worst mass shooting ever to occur in America, it looks like shooter Omar Mateen may well have been a repressed homosexual himself. We probably should have seen that coming considering how many times somebody who actively hates the gay community turns out to be gay themselves. I’m looking at you John Smid.

Anyway, two regulars at Pulse named Chris Callen and Ty Smith – who are married and perform under the names Kristina McLaughlin and Aries respectively – are quoted as saying that Mateen would regularly visit Pulse:

It’s the same guy. He’s been going to this bar for at least three years.

(He’d get) really, really drunk… he couldn’t drink when he was at home around his wife, or family.

His father was really strict… he used to bitch about it. I saw him get escorted off the premises a few times because he was so wasted.

Sometimes he would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself, and other times he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent.

We didn’t really talk to him a lot, but I remember him saying things about his dad at times… he told us he had a wife and child.

We stopped talking to him after he threatened us with a knife after someone made a joke about religion.

The Orlando Sentinel also confirmed these claims with at least four other regulars who said they had seen Mateen there at least a dozen times each. Another regular at the club named Kevin West stated that Mateen had messaged him on and off for a year via a gay hook up app. MSNBC also corroborated this with multiple sources coming forward saying that Mateen had messaged them on multiple different gay dating platforms, including Grindr and was using them to hook up with other men.

Well there you have it and this fact (which it now seems to be) probably only makes the whole event even more tragic. RIP to all the victims.
