Trying to look as attractive as possible is probably one of the biggest problems that most of us face every single day, and it turns out that it might not all be down to how you wear your hair or what you’re wearing. Oddly enough, it might be to do with what you eat on a day to day basis.

A study published in Behavioural Ecology has found that if you eating more carotenoid-rich foods will improve your complexion and make you more attractive to the opposite sex. Foods that are high in carotenoids include carrots, leafy greens like spinach and kale, as well as sweet potatoes and tomatoes.

The study took two groups of men and had one of them ingest beta–carotene supplements for 12 weeks whilst the others were given placebos. At the end of the study period, a group of ladies were shown before and after pictures of them and scored the group as being 50% more attractive in the after shots.

Start eating your greens and carrots if you wanna get laid basically. Carotenoids are also important for healthy eyes and preventing certain types of cancer, so there’s no real disadvantage to consuming them either – in fact it should be positively encouraged.

Yong Zhi Foo, author and postgraduate Animal Biology student at The University of Western Australia, said the following about the study:

Carotenoids are known to be responsible for the striking mating displays in many animal species.

Our study is one of the first to causally demonstrate that carotenoids can affect attractiveness in humans as well.

It also reaffirms the results of previous studies showing that what we eat can affect how we look.

There you have it – carotenoids are the bomb basically. Go eat some every day for the next week then go hit the town. You won’t regret it.
