Well, it may not be coming home this year, but England fans have done the next best thing; kept a clean sheet with ZERO arrests at a World Cup for the first time ever.

Cheshire Chief Constable Mark Roberts, head of the UK Football Policing Unit, praised the behaviour of Three Lions fans in Qatar:

“The behavior of England and Wales out in Qatar was absolutely exemplary.

Throughout the home nations involvement in the tournament there were no arrests or incidents to report, which is a credit to all those who travelled.”

Fair play! Timw_brap was there and even he didn’t get arrested, so you really have to take your hat off to him and all the Brits who travelled. Before the World Cup kicked off you would have predicted record numbers of arrestees, especially given you can’t even wear a T-shirt with a rainbow on it out there. So coming away from Qatar with zero arrests feels almost as good as winning the whole thing. It might as well be 1966 all over again!

This does beg the question though – is football hooliganism finished for good, at international level? Has Qatar set a new standard for England and Wales football fan behaviour around the world? Probably not considering that booze will be easier to come by in Germany for the Euros and USA for the next World Cup. Still, it’s an impressive statistic all the same.
