It’s fair to say that ‘Venom’ was a surprise hit a couple of years ago when it was released because I don’t think that anyone actually thought it was going to be any good but Tom Hardy’s demented performance playing up against the alien symbiotic bonded with his body won a lot of people over.

Given its success, it was fairly obvious that a sequel would be on the cards and this one seems Hardy coming up against Woody Harrelson’s serial killer Cletus Kasady who has a symbiote of his own called Carnage attached to his body. Michelle Williams is also returning as Hardy’s ex girlfriend Anne Weying and judging by this new trailer, the movie looks like it’s going to be even stupider than the first one.

Take a look below and see what you think:

OK, so that does look very stupid and basically like it’s just going to be a massive fight between Venom and Carnage punctuated with some silly bits of Venom and Tom Hardy talking to each other, but what’s not to like about that? Should be an instant classic of idiocy when it’s released in September – at cinemas only crucially – and I’m all for it. Let’s go.

For more of the same, check out Tom Hardy talking about what it’s like to play Venom. Sounds exhausting.
