There’s less than a week to go until Christmas Day so I’m sure that most of us are winding down at work, going out for Xmas drinks, wearing stupid Christmas jumpers and also indulging in some of our favourite Christmas movies too. Whether you’re more of a ‘Love Actually’ or a ‘Die Hard’ kind of Christmas person (yes it is a Christmas movie come on), I’m sure that you’ll probably agree that ‘Home Alone’ is one of the best examples of the genre and it’s somewhat of a shame that we’ve never returned to the story of Kevin McAllister and the Wet/Sticky Bandits for a ‘Home Alone 3’ after all this time, especially in the current reboot climate.

Thankfully though, one YouTuber has decided to imagine what might happen if the franchise was brought back in the modern day with a ‘Home Alone 3’ trailer. Yeah, we  doknow that there are a couple of other instalments in the series but none of the original actors are in them and nobody has seen them so let’s just not bother with them for the context of this article, OK?

Cool. @VJrawr2 is behind the viral trailer that everyone is loving which shows Harry and Marv being released from prison after 31 years, still hellbent on revenge on a now fully grown Kevin McAllister and his family – although it seems like they’ve got a couple of tricks up their sleeves themselves. You might as well just watch it:

OK so that did peter out slightly towards the end for fairly obvious reasons – I guess there’s no footage of older versions of Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern and Macauley Culkin violently maiming each other that can be cropped sadly – but the whole idea sounds like a lot of fun and the trailer deservedly has around 2 million views over the last week or so because of it.

However I’m still not really sure what was going on in the trailer – why was a SWAT team dispatched to the booby trapped house? Why was we even booby trapping the house? Surely he could have just called the cops this time because he would have had a mobile now? Quite a few questions there about the plot of this ‘Home Alone 3’ movie.

Probably don’t really need to worry about that now though and just enjoy. I especially loved the Christmas version of the ‘Saw’ music at the end of the trailer. Kevin McAllister is obviously a latter day version of Jigsaw when you think about it.
