Whatever way you look at it, Ghostbusters is undoubtedly one of the most iconic movies of all time – it’s got a theme song that everyone knows, characters that everyone loves and even a spinoff cartoon series – so it is kind of surprising that nobody has really tried to do anything with the franchise since 1989 aside from the all female reboot a couple of years ago.

Whilst that reboot was fairly well received, people obviously still had a hankering for the original classic characters and it seems like the people behind the movie have finally got a clue and started working on something. Dan Aykroyd revealed as much in a recent interview with Dan Rather, saying that it was being written right now:

There is a possibility of a reunion with the three remaining Ghostbusters… It’s being written right now. I think Billy will come. The story’s so good. Even if he plays a ghost.

I don’t really get why Bill Murray would be playing a ghost when it makes way more sense for him to just be Peter Venkman, but if that what Dan Aykroyd thinks then that’s what Dan Aykroyd thinks. Whether this is actually happening is anyone’s guess as well, as Dan has actually said this about a million times before without anything coming to fruition, but I suppose it’s nice to dream hey isn’t it?

One thing to note is that Harold Ramos obviously won’t be appearing in any version of Ghostbusters 3 as he passed away in 2014. RIP Harold.

For more of the same, check out this dumb story about Bill Murray. He really is a weirdo.
