I’ve seen a bunch of scary movies in my life and even though I’ve jumped and been scared shitless by a whole load of them, I don’t think that the situation has ever got so bad that I’ve actually had to have an ambulance called to deal with it.

A couple of visitors at the Toronto Film Festival can no longer class themselves in the same bracket as me though after they went to see new cannibal movie ‘Raw’ last night. The French film tells the story of a vegetarian who slowly turns into a cannibal following her first taste of meat and it looks like it’s going to be particularly gross if the reaction of people at its premiere at the TFF is anything to go by.

Ryan Werner – who is handling the film’s marketing at the festival – had this to say:

An ambulance had to be called to the scene as the film became too much for a couple patrons.

Another fan backed this up by tweeting the following:

Hmm. Sounds like the people in Canada are pussies. I mean, how can watching this movie actually cause you to pass out? There isn’t a trailer yet so I can’t say how gross it looks or not but come on, surely it can’t be that extreme can it? Can it?

I suppose we’re going to have to wait until next year to find out, as it’s due for a French release on March 15th. Hopefully it comes out over here soon afterwards.

For more cannibalism, here are six reasons why we should all become cannibals. Wait, what?
