Netflix’s New Show ‘The I-Land’ Looks Like Fyre Festival Crossed With Battle Royale

At the start of the year pretty much everyone was talking about Fyre Festival thanks to the documentaries that landed on both Netflix and Prime at similar times and it seems like Netflix were one step ahead of everyone in their ideas on how to capitalise on it, as it’s only six months or so later and they’re already releasing a horror filled spin off TV series about the experience.

The show is called ‘The I-Land’ and will premiere on September 12th and pretty much looks like it’s gonna be a cross between Fyre Festival and Battle Royale, although maybe they won’t have to kill each other and instead all the traps and scary animals etc on the island will be killing them instead. The trailer isn’t giving much away, but it looks like everyone is going to get into a hell of a lot of trouble and that they’re going to get badly mutilated and die too. Lovely:

Yeah so it probably doesn’t really have much to do with Fyre Festival – they just parodied the trailer by the looks of things – but it’s going to get everyone’s attention isn’t it? And I suppose everyone who turned up at Fyre Festival didn’t get what they were expecting either did they?

Anyway, here’s the actual plot synopsis for the seven part series:

When 10 people wake up on a treacherous island with no memory of who they are or how they got there, they set off on a trek to try to get back home.

They soon discover this world is not as it seems. Faced with the I-Land’s extreme psychological and physical challenges, they must rise to their better selves – or die as their worst ones.

Yeah, pretty much just sounds like The Hunger Games or Battle Royale with more of a mystery element and even though that’s a fairly well work genre at this time, I’ve still got time for this. Hope it doesn’t let me down.

For more of the same, check out the most unlikely Fyre Festival bromance right here. Really is dumb.
