A Russian MMA fighter had his ring finger ripped clean off his hand during a bout at Cage Fury Fighting Championships on Thursday night in Philadelphia.

Khetag Pliev, 37, went on to fight another round against Devin Goodale before the referee stopped the fight. At first, even the commentators didn’t realise WTF they were looking at:

Jeez! How does that even happen? Well, according to Pliev (via Heavy):

In the second round, he caught my glove with one hand and held it. I felt my finger snapped. He kept pulling my glove and my finger snapped. We kept fighting. When the second round was finished, I see my (bone) was out in the open. I wanted to keep fighting, because I felt like I had this guy. But the doctor saw that and stopped the fight.

Below I will post a horrifically graphic, disgustingly NSFL image of Pliev’s hand as he was being treated at hospital.

You have been warned…..

Yikes! Told you it was gross. Apparently they had trouble finding the missing digit in the cage and the PA announcer even had to ask fans in the crowd if they’d seen it. In the end… Pliev’s finger was found tucked away in his glove, where it had been the entire time.

The good news is they managed to reattach it after ignoring Pliev’s pleas to carry on fighting and rushing him to hospital:

Annoyingly for Pliev, the fight was awarded in his opponent’s favour even though he was apparently leading before it was stopped due to his finger being ripped off. He’s now appealing the result so that it doesn’t screw up his 5-1 record, which sounds like the fair thing to do IMO. Good luck with that, Pliev!
