Mickey Rourke Launches GoFundMe As He Faces Eviction Over $60,000 Unpaid Rent
Hollywood legend Mickey Rourke faces eviction from his $7,000-a-month Los Angeles home and instead of getting a job like the rest of us or – better yet- downsizing to one-bedroom flat, he’s started a GoFundMe.
Rourke, 73, reportedly owes $59,100 (£44,006) in arrears, with the GoFundMe page having been launched by Liya-Joelle Jones, a ‘friend and member of Rourke’s management team’, and approved by Rourke.
The GoFundMe was set up yesterday (January 4) and has already raised over $50,000, with the target now being raised from the original $60,000 to $100,000. Are they taking the Mick or what?

The GoFundMe mentions Rourke’s fighting career as a key reason for his financial hardships: “Boxing—real and punishing—left lasting physical and emotional scars, and the industry that once celebrated him moved on quickly.”
It adds: “This fundraiser is being created with Mickey’s full permission to help cover immediate housing-related expenses and prevent that from happening.
“Mickey Rourke is an icon—but his trajectory, as painful as it is, is also a deeply human one. It is the story of someone who gave everything to his work, took real risks, and paid real costs.
“Fame does not protect against hardship, and talent does not guarantee stability. What remains is a person who deserves dignity, housing, and the chance to regain his footing.
“The goal is simple: to give Mickey stability and peace of mind during an extremely stressful time—so he can stay in his home and have the space to get back on his feet.”
Here’s a more recent photo of the Sin City and Iron Man 2 star – in case you want to feel even worse for him:
Fair play to everyone for helping out, but a GoFundMe for someone to stay in a $7k-a-month house? Seems a bit ridiculous really, even with the “Hollywood left him behind” sob story. Just seems like there are probably better options for you to donate your cash to.
Then again, $7k-a-month sounds pretty low as far as celebrity budgets go, and especially compared to what his lifestyle was probably like in the 80’s/90’s when he was splashing the cash all over the place. The guy probably feels like he’s living in the slums!
Remember when ITV left him with a £50,000 hotel bill after Celebrity Big Brother? That probably didn’t help matters.
