A McDonald’s Salad Actually Has More Calories Than A Big Mac

As more and more people become worried about what exactly they’re putting in their mouths and how many calories they’re consuming, fast food restaurants like McDonald’s have started adding so called ‘healthier’ options to their menus in an attempt to adapt with the times.

The only problem is that not all of these options are necessarily healthier, as it’s been found that the kale salad is actually worse for you than a Double Big Mac.

The kale part itself is fine, but when it’s combined with crispy bacon, real parmesan petals and roasted garlic focaccia croutons then the calorie count starts to rise. If you add a seasoned crispy chicken or a grilled chicken breast, then that adds another 200 calories again.

All in all, the kale salad clocks in at 730 calories, with 53 grams of fat and 1400 milligrams of salt, whereas a Double Big Mac has just 680 calories, 38 frams of fat and 1,340 milligrams of salt. Unbelievable. The study was carried out in the States though, where they inevitably have bigger portions so it might be slightly less over here. Still, watch out.

I’m not really sure what McDonald’s motivation for this is – make their salads appear healthy but still taste good so people feel good about themselves and come back? Get them to add more options so the company makes more money? Just trying to make the whole country obese in general? – but I suppose we don’t really need to question their intentions do we because we all know they’re dickheads after their mozzarella sticks didn’t even have any cheese in them.

So I guess the moral of the story is if you’re going to McDonald’s, you might as well just have a Big Mac rather than a salad. Having said all this though, who the hell buys salad when they go to McDonald’s?
