Here it is, the news that I know a lot of the country have been waiting for as McDonald’s have decided to re-open 15 of their branches across the country for takeaway and delivery.

The bad news is that we’ve still gotta wait two weeks for them to open their doors as it won’t be going down until May 13th. They won’t be serving breakfast (boo!) and they’ll be erecting perspex glass at the counters to protect staff whilst they take your orders and dish out the food.

They’re keeping us on tenterhooks even longer though as UK and Ireland boss Paul Pomroy is yet to reveal which locations will actually be open. Here’s what he had to say:

We sought the views of our employees as we worked through our reopening planning, to give us all confidence in the measures we are introducing to keep them safe.

We understand everyone has been affected by this global crisis differently and therefore when it comes to returning to work, our people will be encouraged to make the right decision, based on their personal circumstances.

The tests have proven successful and I will outline the ways in which we will slowly, but safely, begin to resume serving McDonald’s customers again.

On May 13, we will reopen 15 of our restaurants in the UK; this will be in a limited capacity with delivery only.

The restaurants involved will be announced next week as we work through inviting our employees back to work and supporting our delivery partners to prepare for our gradual return.

I guess this is good news, but it’s kinda annoying that they haven’t got their act together before this when literally every other takeaway restaurant has by now. Disappointing.

For more of the same, check out this guy who released a rat in McDonald’s when they screwed up his order. Not cool.
