Following the outcry that followed the launch of Greggs vegan sausage roll this January, McDonald’s is prepared to suffer the same wrath – and crucially the increased profit margins – by introducing their own vegan nuggets.

The nuggets have already launched in Norway where they’ll be testing them out before hopefully launching them worldwide. Not really sure why they picked Norway for this test – is there a huge vegan population there or something? but hey, at least they’re testing them out somewhere and joining the vegan revolution, right?

I know you’re all dying to know what delicious natural products are contained within those breadcrumbs, so here we go: the nuggets will contain mashed potato, chickpeas, onion, carrots and corn. Apparently they’re completely indistinguishable from your classic McDonald’s nuggets, but I’m not sure if that’s really going to be the case when they’ve got so many distinctly different items in them. Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing because I mean hey, they’re vegan and that’s great, just think that this is a bit of a bold claim and I’m not buying it. They don’t even look like regular chicken nuggets FFS. Have a word.

Stoked for them to come to the UK eventually and try them out myself though. Stoked for all the hatred that’s probably going to follow them around as well. You know that’s going to be the best part.

For more vegans, check out this study that reckons a huge amount of vegetarians eat meat whilst they’re drunk. Fakers.
