McDonald’s has added a brand new burger to the menu for the first time in ages and, for once, the UK is getting it before the US does.
The new burger, known as The Big Arch, is bigger and wider in size than the Big Mac, and according to early reviews, could ever replace the Big Mac as the most popular burger on the Maccies menu.
The Big Arch features two Quarter Pounder beef patties, two slices of white cheddar and brand new Big Arch sauce: a mixture of McDonald’s ketchup, mustard and pickle juice. All this between a toasted sesame and poppy seed bun which is then loaded with crispy onions on one side and slivered raw onions on the other, before shredded lettuce and pickles are added too.
Sounds like a bit of a ballache for the Maccies staff to make, but the burger has already proven to be a big hit in Canada, France and Portugal, and will be arriving on UK menus from June 18.
The food reviewer from Metro gave The Big Arch a 9/10, knocking a point off only because it was ‘incredibly messy.’ She also confirmed that it’s ‘better than the Big Mac.’
The reviewer from Eat This, Not That said The Big Arch was ‘massive & satisfying’. They don’t pay them to say these things, do they? Stormzy?
So how much does this juicy monstrosity of a burger cost then? Just the Big Arch on its own will set you back £7.99, which is pretty expensive but also standard for what a burger costs these days. A Big Arch Medium Meal starts at £9.99.
From the sounds and looks of it, it’s probably a good choice for when a Big Mac or anything smaller aren’t going to cut it in terms of satisfying your hunger. It does look pretty damn thick and juicy in that reviewer’s hand in the image above. The best part about it though? No pointless extra bread between the patties like the Big Mac has.
I’m not particularly big on McDonald’s but I’ll probably go for it next time I’m in the mood.
