I don’t think anyone predicted that Matthew McConaughey would be starring as a secret agent version of Elvis Presley in a new Netflix animated series until yesterday because there was literally no knowledge of this before the trailer dropped today but here we are – and we gotta say it looks like it’s going to (jailhouse) rock.

Again, I’m not sure if anything I could write about here would prepare you for how ridiculous the trailer looks below, so you might as well just jump right in:

Elvis Presley trades in his jumpsuit for a jet pack when he is covertly inducted into a secret government spy program to battle the dark forces that threaten the country he loves – all while holding down his day job as the King of Rock and Roll.

That looks so stupid doesn’t it, but I gotta say I’m intrigued by the premise and will probably give it a couple of episodes a try before discounting it completely. Kinda surprised they didn’t get more Elvis puns into the trailer because surely that’s what the whole point of the show is going to be?

Elvis has to go undercover ‘in the ghetto’ to stop drug trade. Elvis is interrogating some suspects and says it’s time for ‘a little less conversation’ before he starts beating them up. Elvis faces some trouble from the ‘suspicious minds’ of the organisation in charge of him etc etc. This stuff writes itself.
