Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has introduced a new iteration of Black Panther this week and it appears as though he’s… white?
The MCU introduced the new Black Panther in their new comic series titled ‘Marvel Knights: The World to Come #1’, where after defeating T’Challa in battle, Ketema removes his mask to reveal a young white man with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Weirdly enough, people don’t seem too happy about this. Here’s some of the reaction online:
Ryan Gosling, wouldn’t be a bad shout, actually. I’m just amazed that we got a black-to-white character race swap so soon in the 2020s. Unless I’m mistaken, this is the first time something like this has happened in any form of media and entertainment. Which I guess is fair enough in a world where we’ve seen a Latina Snow White, a black Tinkerbell, and so on.
Still, you’d think the whole point of Black Panther would be that the character is ‘black’, but I guess Wakandans come in all shapes and colours now. What a time to be alive.
