Major breakthrough in the Madeleine McCann investigation today as German police have found a hard-drive at a disused factory that apparently contains evidence that Maddie is dead.
The factory was bought by the prime suspect in Maddie’s disappearance – 48-year-old German man Christian Brueckner, who is already serving a prison sentence for the rape of a 72-year-old American woman in Praia da Luz in 2005. This is the same village in Portugal where Madeleine went missing in 2007.
Nearly twenty years on from Maddie’s disappearance, a raid of the factory owned by Brueckner has uncovered ‘significant evidence’ to suggest that Madeleine, who would now be 21, is dead.
Bruecker is actually scheduled to be released from prison in September 2025, unless prosecutors are able to prove that he is the man who killed Madeleine all those years ago. Doesn’t seem like that will be particularly difficult given the evidence that they now claim they have.
As per The Telegraph, masks, unlicensed guns and ammunition, children’s toys, and bikes were also found at Brueckner’s bolthole, despite him having no kids himself. As many as 75 children’s swimming costumes were also discovered.
A hard-drive of images previously found on Brueckner’s computer could also be key in bringing him down, as they show him at important locations for those who have been investigating the case for the last two decades.
No word on what exactly this new hard-drive of evidence that Maddie McCann is dead contains, but according to The Mirror, more details could be revealed for the first time in a documentary showing on Channel 4 tonight (May 7).
Speaking on Aussie TV, German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters previously said: “We have strong evidence that Madeleine McCann is dead and that our suspect killed her.
“We don’t have the body and no parts of the body, but we have enough evidence to say our suspect killed Madeleine McCann.”
The hard-drive also reportedly includes disturbing stories written by Brueckner in which he details his fantasies of snatching children, including instances where he drugs a mum and her daughter outside a pre-school, while he also abuses a young blonde girl aged four.
I mean, how much more do the courts need to see? Aside from all the red flags and evidence that the police already have, there are also testimonies from people Bruecker spoke to where he allegedly confessed to kidnapping Madeleine. One was a ‘former associate’ of his who he told at a festival that Maddie “didn’t scream when I took her”, and the other is a former cellmate who testified that Bruecker had told him about how he abducted a child from an apartment in Portugal.
If German prosecutors don’t manage to nail this guy, it will be an L of stupendous proportions. Apparently they are confident they will make it happen, but the challenge lies in securing ‘sufficient evidence’. Let’s see how it plays out so that maybe this case can finally come to a close once and for all.
