Remember that drunk student who got completely owned after throwing a fit over a bacon jalapeno mac and cheese at his student union?

Here’s a reminder:

The video went viral very quickly when it first dropped, and months later it turns out the former University of Connecticut student has been given a chance at having the incident erased from his record.

19-year-old Luke Gatti appeared in court on Monday, and said to the judge:

I got nothing to defend. I am entirely ashamed of my actions and that’s pretty much it.

At the time, I was, to say the least, very intoxicated. When I watched the video a few days later, I couldn’t even believe it was me in it. I was just watching it, thinking, ‘Oh my God’.

The judge was most impressed with the fact that Luke travelled all the way to Ecuador, where the food manager lives now, to apologise to him and gain his forgiveness.

The judge gave Luke “accelerated rehabilitation”, which is a form of probation that means the case will be erased from his record if he avoids legal trouble and complies with random drug tests. He was originally charged with misdemeanour breach of peace and trespassing.

Nice to have this story properly wrapped up before the end of the year. Seems to have really had a big affect on the kid if he’s literally flown to Ecuador to ask for this guy to forgive him. I mean that really is going the extra mile to show that you’re sorry, so fair play to him. He did look incredibly stupid in that video so the fact it went super viral is probably punishment enough.

I’m just wondering… did the food manager move to Ecuador because of the video? That would be pretty OTT.

Anyway, better than Ronnie Pickering’s apology if you ask me.
