The world breathed a sigh of relief yesterday after Grimes and Elon Musk’s baby was born and the pair revealed that they had named it X Æ A-12 Musk and as such hadn’t let alone down who had bet on them giving it the most ridiculous name that anyone could ever imagine.

I’m not sure if anyone even questioned what it meant after I just assumed they picked whatever gobbledygook they could and whacked it all together, but Grimes has kindly taken to Twitter to break down its meaning for us. What an absolute doll, especially after she’s just been through the gruelling process of childbirth.

Here’s what she had to say:

•Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence)
•A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent 🤍

I don’t really know what she means by any of that, but it’s kinda weird that she’s given her kid an Artificial Intelligence reference in its name, even if it is in elven. Well, even weirder than usual I suppose? Is she trying to imply some link between the human psyche and AI there? Deep.

Anyway, I guess this kinda confirms that this is actually the kids name and they weren’t just trolling us with it. Should probably make a video telling us how we should pronounce it as well.
