I think it’s fairly naive for anyone to think that their social media presence wouldn’t have an affect on their employment status these days – be that positive or negative – so I’m not sure if this flamboyant and probably gay teacher can really be that surprised that he was suspended from his job after posting loads of ‘thirst trap’ videos on his TikTok.

Firstly, you’ve gotta think that it’s kinda cringe that Christian Shearhod even wanted to go viral on TikTok because he’s meant to be an adult in a position of responsibility, but secondly when you look at some of these videos I don’t really think there’s anything that warrants him getting fired. Take a look below and see what you think:

Sure, they’re embarrassing, but I don’t think that they’re affecting his ability to do his job? I suppose if his students found them and were particularly rowdy then they might affect his ability to work effectively but other than that they’re fairly harmless. There are also loads of comments on them saying how he’s an amazing teacher, so it doesn’t seem like there’s anything going on with that theory.

However, 27 year old Shearhod thinks that it’s probably because of the video he shared below though, where he shared LGBTQ+ advice:

@mr.shearhod happy pride month 💙 always be yourself, I love and support you #pride #teachersoftiktok #fypシ ♬ I Don’t Mind – Fammouzz.Khariiiii

I was told it was for social media without any further explanation.

I assumed it was for ‘thirst traps’ but I believe it probably had something to do with my LGBTQ+ advice video.

I had been posting my fitness content for weeks and I got put on leave a day after that video.”

I was already looking to work with a more open-minded and progressive school in this upcoming school year.

It’s so that I can continue to advocate for students, other teachers, and promote a healthy work, life balance.

And since my videos, I’ve had a lot of offers.

I don’t consider them [the clips] ‘thirst traps’, I think the only reason people have said that is because I’m fairly young and in shape.

If I were a different age or body shape I think I would’ve been applauded for my bravery.

I’ve struggled with body image and some body dysmorphia.

I post these videos because I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

To all the Karens, I hope you find a better hobby than harassing people online, I’m just out here looking for happiness, and I hope you find yours too.

Yeah, considering the guy is a maths teacher in Texas, that’s probably enough to do it (even though it’s absolutely nothing). I feel like his employers must have known how he felt about LGBTQ+ issues when they hired him and let him work as a maths teacher for four years before they saw any of these TikToks though? Surely it’s downright obvious given how he seems to be acting in all of these videos and everything he posts about it? Weird straw to break the camel’s back.

Anyway, it doesn’t sound like Christian is too bothered by all of this and may already have a new school lined up for next year anyway that’s more in keeping with his values. Hopefully they take the time to vet him and his TikTok channel before hiring him. In any case, he’s a viral superstar though now so can probably just concentrate on that to be honest.
