Everybody can’t get enough of mini versions of their favourite games consoles with a whole bunch of their favourite games on, so it was no surprise when Sony finally announced the arrival of the Playstation Classic for this Christmas period – the only question was what games were going to be included on it.

Well, that question has now been answered with the news that the following 20 games are going to be included with the system – there are some notable omissions though:

  • Battle Arena Toshinden
  • Cool Boarders 2
  • Destruction Derby
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Grand Theft Auto
  • Intelligent Qube
  • Jumping Flash!
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Mr. Driller
  • Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
  • Rayman
  • Resident Evil Director’s Cut
  • Revelations: Persona
  • Ridge Racer Type 4
  • Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
  • Syphon Filter
  • Tekken 3
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
  • Twisted Metal
  • Wild Arms

OK I’ll be honest when I say that I don’t even know what a few of those games are – Intelligent Qube? Wild Arms? – but I’ll also be honest when I say that I’m completely stoked to revisit some absolute classics like Final Fantasy VII (Cloud Strife!), Rainbow Six, Tekken 3, Rayman and Oddworld. Already bringing back a lot of great memories with those ones.

However, there are also a couple of games that it’s absolutely unforgivable that they’ve decided to leave them off the list, notably Tomb Raider, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Crash Bandicoot. Those games pretty much defined the Playstation – certainly more than something like Revelations: Persona – so why have they not bothered to put them in? Have a word.
