Hope you all enjoyed your Easter bank holiday weekend, but it’s debatable if you would have had as good a time as a Mr Ramiro Alanis from Florida, who used his days off to watch ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ for the 292nd and final time at the cinema.

I don’t want to shit on anyone’s achievements, but is watching a movie 292 times at the cinema actually an achievement? It also kinda feels like the only reason he’s stopped doing this is because the cinemas have probably stopped showing the movie now so he literally can’t do it anymore. What an absolute psychopath.

It gets even better when you learn that after completing the 292 screenings, Alanis has actually reclaimed his Guinness World Record for ‘most cinema productions attended of the same film’. Previously, he had watched ‘Avengers: Endgame’ 191 times but some other weirdo called Arnaud Klein over in France decided to beat him by watching a movie I’ve never heard of before called ‘Kaamelott: First Instalment’ 203 times. This could clearly develop into a rivalry similar to Man City and Liverpool at the moment or The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin back in the 90s.

Anyway, aside from the fact that it’s clearly maniacal behaviour to watch a movie 292 times in the cinema, you also have to think abut the financial implications here. A ticket for the cinema costs around $15 in America, so that means Alanis (and Klein to a lesser extent) spent around $4000 on his little obsession/quest for viral fame/world championships.

Hope he didn’t have much else going on his life over this period, although it didn’t sound like he had too much spare time to be honest. In case you’re wondering, ‘Spiderman: No  Way Home’ is around two and a half hours long and so Alanis will have spent an entire month of the last four in the cinema watching it through all those showings. For the first few weeks he watched five back to back showings of the movie too which sounds to me like it could legitimately be used as a form of torture. Let’s hope it was worth it.

Personally I can’t comprehend why someone would want to do this? I thought ‘Spiderman: No Way  Home’ was great and it’s probably even better on the big screen compared to your TV set, but I think you have to have something wrong with you to go and see it 292 times. Even five times would be a bit excessive I imagine.

How can you even enjoy seeing something that much? I don’t think I’ve even watched my favourite movies that many times over the course of my life on TV. Alanis and Klein are clearly some kind of freaks and I would worry for my safety if I was their friends or anything. Klein is married so I hope his wife is re-evaluation her life choices.
