Everyone has heard of method acting, but the problem with that way of doing things is that nobody ever really knows where to draw the line.

Apparently for Ewan McGregor – who I don’t really think anyone has ever associated with method acting – this even extended to him attempting to get hold of some heroin for his iconic role as Renton in ‘Trainspotting’. Fortunately for him, he realised fairly quickly that this was a stupid idea and didn’t bother following through with it and ending up hooked.

McGregor revealed the news during an interview with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes on the ‘Smartless’ podcast. Here’s what he had to say:

I didn’t do heroine and I’ve never done heroin but I did think about it.

I thought, ‘I don’t want to do heroin addicts a disservice by getting it wrong.’

So I brought it up, I did say to [Trainspotting director] Danny Boyle, ‘Look, well, John, our writer, he’s a doctor.

He could do it to us properly so that we don’t die.’

It just became apparent that it was a really disrespectful idea to the people we’re working with.

Lol no shit Ewan. I think it turned out OK in the end too and there was never any need for him to try it in the first place. That’s what acting’s all about pal. Nobody likes method actors anyway – just ask Jared Leto.

For more of the same, check out everyone moaning about Jared Leto on the set of ‘Suicide Squad’. What an asshole.
