It seems like every holiday these days has some big idea to take the traditional elements of it and ‘improve’ them somehow, and the latest one of these is this new take on Easter.

Called the Cheester Egg (see what they did there), this new fangled Easter egg is exactly what you would expect it to be: an Easter egg made entirely out of cheese. It’s the brainchild of food blogger Annem Hobson – who was also responsible for the cheese Advent calendar that we saw towards the end of last year. Annem had this to say about her reasons for creating the Cheeseter egg:

Chocolate is okay, but it’s a little boring and frankly I’m sick of seeing it dominating key retail periods.

Cheese is what excites me so I’m thrilled my plans for a Cheester Egg have finally hatched and that the Cheese Advent Calendar is becoming a reality.

There’s a whole army of cheese lovers out there showing me their support and I hope I’m doing them proud.

The Cheeseter eggs themselves are 260g of solid, hand made vegetarian cheese courtesy of Wildes Cheese. The recipe is based on their Napier cheese, which was named London’s Favourite Cheese in 2015 at the Urban Food Awards, so you know it’s going to taste pretty dope. The only slight down point is that it costs £15, but it’ll probably keep you going for a while so look at it as an investment. It’ll definitely make Easter a bit more interesting this year.
