A Nigerian man who cried his eyes out for seven days straight in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record temporarily went blind as he tried to bawl non-stop for a whole week.

Tembu Ebere told the BBC he suffered headaches, a swollen face, and puffy eyes before going partially blind for 45 minutes in his tear-shedding record attempt.

Just look at the footage of him crying – the guy is full on wailing. He sounds like a wild animal being slowly ripped to shreds by a grizzly bear or something:

Jesus Christ. The maddest part is that he hasn’t officially applied to the Guinness World Records team, and so even if he completes his 7-day crying mission (it’s still ongoing), it won’t be official because he didn’t go through the correct channel. All that crying and temporary blindness for nothing! Which is a shame because he’s really putting in the effort, as you can see.

Come to think of it, a lot of people have probably unofficially broken the world crying record without realising it, especially in the age of the internet. How many people do you see crying and moaning non-stop on social media these days? It might actually be the most frequently broken world record out there. Either way, you’d think going blind in the process would be enough to clinch it for Tempu Ebere. I guess we can count this as a practice run and he can get the Guinness team involved properly next time. Good luck, Tempu!
