Sleep paralysis is one of the scariest and weirdest things in the world. In case you don’t know what it is, it’s basically when you wake up – or feel like you’ve woken up – but can’t move or talk and loads of freaky hallucinations are going on around you and there’s literally nothing you can do about it. They’re always based in the real world too which makes them even more shit scary.

It’s happened to me a few times in the past – although not for a while – and I can vouch for it not being fun at all and being completely terrifying. It affects one in ten people on the planet so chances are even if you didn’t realise it then it could have affected you at some point in your life.

Now, filmmaker Rodney Ascher has decided to make a documentary about it aptly entitled ‘The Nightmare’. It involves him going around and interviewing a bunch of people that suffer from the condition and then recreating some of their nightmares in real life. This basically involves people being stalked by killers, or shadowy figures hanging around at the edge of their bedroom for hours just staring at them, whilst they lie there unable to move.

Truly horrific right, I got creeped out just watching the trailer. I can’t wait to see it.

If you enjoyed (?) that, then why not check out this creepy photography from a sufferer of the condition. Guaranteed to freak you out even more.
