Couple Who Spent £20,000 On Harry Potter Themed Wedding Told To ‘Grow Up’

I’m not really sure how I feel about themed weddings – other than the obvious theme of the bride and groom of course – but I think I would probably feel very embarrassed for everyone involved if I turned up to a ceremony that was based around something as lame as Harry Potter.

And it turns out that I’m not alone in my opinions as the Harry Potter themed wedding of Craig and Katherine from Chicago has been slammed online, with loads of people telling them to grow up and claiming that Harry Potter adults are the worst kind of adults. Think I can probably agree with that take to be honest.

Fortunately, the pair of them don’t care about the hate and everyone attending their wedding wasn’t as snarky as me – at least to their faces – with many of them saying it was one of the best ceremonies they’ve ever attended. Pretty sure I can smell bullshxt there, can you?

Here’s what Craig had to say about it all:

Katherine and I thought it was kind of funny.

It never really bothered us but I didn’t realise how much people on the internet think that their opinions matter.

A lot of people kept saying stuff like “I’m sure everyone in the audience is so uncomfortable”, and “the ring bearer must be so embarrassed” but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Our friends and family are so used to our shenanigans, by now they just go along with it.

There were a lot of people who loved it, but most of that were a mixture of comments like “Grow up”, “Harry Potter adults are worse than Disney adults” and “Why is the groom wearing a backwards hat?”

Also a few people told us they’d walk out if they went to a wedding like that.

We both share a love for the series, and because of that I proposed to her in front of Hogwarts Castle at Harry Potter World in Orlando.

Katherine and I both aren’t huge fans of ceremony and traditional weddings, and we knew we wanted to have a different wedding.

It’s funny actually, Katherine and I both have the same Harry Potter related tattoo, but we got them before we even met.

There wasn’t a single unsupportive person at our wedding. There were zero negative remarks before, at or after our wedding from guests. What we did hear a lot was that it was the best wedding people had been to.

Katherine’s grandparents who are in their 70s came up to us multiple times throughout the night telling us they didn’t know what to expect, but it was the most fun they had at a wedding in a long time.

Fair play to the both of them I suppose, even if they are massive nerdy losers. At least they’re doing what makes them happy and aren’t afraid to enjoy themselves. Go for it dweebs!

Gotta give a massive shout out to all their friends and family for indulging in their lameness too. There’s no way that at least one person there didn’t think that the pair of them were complete freaks. Probably all of them if we’re being honest. Expecto Patronum!

For more of the same, check out this wedding where the bride walked in on the groom breastfeeding. Awkward.
