These two might be the luckiest couple in the world after finding a lump of vomit on the beach that could earn them up to £50,000.

The reason behind the high value is because it is a chunk of whale vomit, which is an incredibly sought after and difficult to reach ingredient used in high-end perfumes. I had no idea that every time I doused myself with Burberry Weekend that it was actually the remnants of a whale’s fish supper. So gross.

Apparently Gary and Angela Williams from Lancashire were just having a casual stroll along the beach near Morecambe Bay when they could both smell rotting fish. After following the stench, they found that the culprit was a weird shaped rock. Luckily both of them had read up about the highly priced sick (I would not have had a clue) and so wrapped it up in a scarf and took it home.

Lo and behold, they were both bloody right. Their rugby sized, 1.57kg ball of whale puke was indeed what is known to perfume makers as ‘floating gold’. Due to the size, the lump has been valued at around £50,000. Lucky bastards. Gary, who is an engineer, said:

It was down a section of the beach where no one really walks.

It smells too bad though. It’s a very distinctive smell, like a cross between squid and farmyard manure.

It feels like a rock hard rubber ball. Its texture is like wax, like a candle.

When you touch it you get wax sticking to your fingers.

According to reports this isn’t the first time this has happened, as someone found a lump of whale sick double the size near Morecambe Bay several years back worth £120,000. So basically, see you guys in a bit — I’m off on holiday to find me a waxy lump of fishy whale spew.

Much rather find that than stumble across a detached foot washed up on the shore.
