Rumours of a Goonies sequel have been flying around since before Sick Chirpse was even a website, and most of the time the former stars and production team behind it seem fairly confident that it might happen one day.

Unfortunately, one of those people isn’t Goonies star Corey Feldman. He’s currently out promoting his second album ‘Angelic 2 The Core’ (nice title dude), when he was asked in an interview about his thoughts on the sequel.

Here’s why Corey thinks that it will never happen:

The Goonies

Richard Donner is 87 years old. Nobody really wants to make it without him.

He says it’s still alive. But as we all know… When you get to that age, things slow down quite a bit.

There is a big possibility that he might not want to keep driving it. So, I think without him, it doesn’t happen.

And every day that passes, that he doesn’t do it, there is less and less chance that it is ever going to happen at all.

That’s a pretty pessimistic view of the whole thing, although to be fair it does sound like shooting a movie on the scale of one you would imagine The Goonies sequel to be might be fairly difficult for an 87 year old man. So hurry up and get on with it Donner, yeah?

However, Feldman’s co star in the movie Sean Astin said this only a few weeks ago so maybe he knows more than Corey about the whole thing. Here’s hoping.
