Conspiracy Theorists Think That This Video Proves Moon Landing Was A Hoax

There are a whole bunch of conspiracy theories out there, but one of the biggest ones definitely revolves around whether or not the lunar landings actually happened or not.

I’m not usually one to entertain this kind of nonsense, but I do feel like there’s a bit of evidence for this one that could sway me towards thinking that they were staged, most notably the fact that nobody has ever been back there for about 40 years or something. This YouTuber thinks he has even more evidence though, citing the reflection of a man that may not be wearing a spacesuit in one astronaut’s space visor as definitive proof that they never happened.

Here’s the video:

There is no backpack on the figure and even allowing for visual distortion due to the visor, surely you would see a backpack because they were extremely large.

I came across this. I have no idea if it’s been discovered before or if it’s been uploaded before. […] This is from a moon photograph, but it’s a reflection from one of the astronaut’s face visors. I thought it looked a bit strange, so I took a picture of it using my software.

“What we appear to have here is a figure of a human not wearing a space suit, circa early 70s […] Apollo 17 photograph.

“There was some dispute way back in 2009 as to the legitimacy of these photos, whether somebody discovered this I don’t know, but it certainly hasn’t popped up on Google.”

You can see some sort of, it looks like a man, back in the early 70s, long hair, wearing some sort of waistcoat-type thing […] and a shadow of that figure, presumably.

Where’s this guy’s space suit?

There is no backpack on the figure and even allowing for visual distortion due to the visor, surely you would see a backpack because they were extremely large.

I dunno. I know that the guy definitely has a point, but it seems a bit much to say that this is overwhelming proof.

First of all the picture is blurry and inconclusive – I think this is the main point – but secondly you can’t exactly expect the photography quality to be amazingly accurate considering it was about seventy years ago and in space. Very clear possibility that these factors could have warped it or something. Not buying it, sorry.

One question that this does relate to and something that I always think about though is how the hell did they manage to transmit these photographs all the way back to Earth from the moon and have them shown on TV and published in the newspapers pretty much straight away? Surely the technology didn’t exist to do that back then as I don’t think a fax machine had even been invented? Something to think about.

For more of the same, check out this new study that says the moon is rusting. What?
