You can’t get more peak 90s than the I Know What You Did Last Summer movies as pretty much everything about it reeks of that decade – a cast including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Philippe, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze JR, a screenplay by Kevin Williamson and a soundtrack including Korn, The Offspring and Kula Shaker – but apparently people reckon that the concept might have some legs as a TV show in 2019.

It’s been recently announced that the show will return as a summer remake on Amazon and even if it’s quintessentially 90s it sounds like the production people have some major heavy hitters involved to try and make the transition into this millennium. James Wan has been tasked with producing and knows exactly what he’s talking about having directed Saw, Aquaman and the first two Conjuring movies and helping to develop The Nun, Lights Out, the Saw franchise and the Annabelle films too. John Wick 3: Parabellum scriptwriter Shay Hatten is also attached to write the script as well.

I’m usually fairly sceptical of reboots and I’m not really sure how I Know What You Did Last Summer is really going to work as a TV series – surely that’s a two hour story max, right? – but I’m interested to see what they come up with here. I’m guessing it’ll be released some time next year though so we might have a while before we can finally see what’s going on with it.

For more of the same, check out the bloodiest scene in the history of horror right here. No exaggeration.
