I don’t think the world has seen anything like the ‘Barbenheimer’ fever that gripped everyone over the weekend  – and it looks like it might continue for some time now after Cillian Murphy revealed that he would be up for playing Ken in a ‘Barbie’ sequel, inadvertently giving everyone the crossover that none of us knew we needed.

Murphy is currently on the press tour for ‘Oppenheimer’ and was asked by one cheeky reporter if he would be up for appearing in a ‘Barbie’ sequel. Without missing a beat, he said the following to Cinéfilos:

Sure! Let’s read a script. Let’s have a conversation.

I can’t wait to see the movie, I think it’s great for cinema, you know, you’ve got all these great movies happening this summer.

OK so that’s not exactly a confirmation is it, but it does sound like he’s buying into the movie and might be interested in appearing in it if it does ever happen. Mainly for the memes I guess.

It is worth noting that ‘Barbie’ was originally intended as a one off event movie, but as we know with all these things, money usually talks and given its impressive box office numbers this weekend, it seems like a sequel is probably inevitable at this point. With or without Cillian Murphy.

For more of the same, check out what Piers Morgan had to say about the new ‘Barbie’ movie. Any ideas?
