A British tourist who was left unconscious on a beach in Brazil after being drugged and robbed by three women has declared that he has had “enough of this country.”
The 21-year-old engineering student has spoken out for the first time after a video of him collapsing into the sand on Ipanema Beach in Rio De Janeiro found its way online:
In Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, three women allegedly drugged and robbed two British tourists. The group met at a samba event and later visited bars, where one woman offered a spiked drink, causing a tourist to pass out. The suspects stole an iPhone 16, an iPhone 14, and transferred… pic.twitter.com/4eEteuW4IK

The unnamed student says he was KO’d after drinking a caipirinha cocktail offered to him by a woman at a beach bar in the early hours of August 8th. By the time he woke up in hospital, his phone was gone and more than £16,000 had been taken from his bank accounts. Absolute nightmare.
The lad told Brazilian media outlet G1: “I took one, two sips and then nothing. Maybe I’ll come back one day but for now I think it’s enough of this country.”
Well, you can’t blame him really. Brazil is a lively and beautiful travel destination but as with anywhere, you’ve really got to use your brain and not accept drinks from women (or men) you’ve just met.
The story goes that the victim was on holiday with a buddy when they met the woman at a local bar in the Lapa neighbourhood, where she offered them both the spiked cocktails. After finishing the drinks, the woman convinced them to join her in a taxi to Ipanema Beach, where they soon found themselves stumbling along the beachfront and face-planting into the sand.
As seen in the video – filmed by a teenage delivery man who eventually called an ambulance for the two boys – three female suspects run off and hop into another taxi before fleeing the scene.
The other victim who was spiked says he threw his mobile phone into the sand to try and prevent the thieves from accessing his banking apps.
He told G1: “I must have realised what was going on and threw my phone.”
The delivery driver added: “He [the first victim] was unresponsive. He was drooling. His eye was open. His face was in the sand. I called the emergency services and they confirmed police and an ambulance were on their way.”
The good news is that the three women – Amanda Couto Deloca, 23; Mayara Katelyn Americo da Silva, 26; and Raiane Campos de Oliveira, 27 (above) – have now been arrested by police. Investigators say the women are sex workers who target tourists in the city.
Big up the delivery driver who helped the victims out and filmed the women running off, ultimately leading to their capture. As for the two victims, it’s a shame they had such a terrible experience during their summer trip to Brazil, but at least it will serve as a reminder to everyone else to keep their wits about them when holidaying in south America, or anywhere else for that matter. Could’ve been a lot worse.
