For years people have been claiming that a glass of wine a day is good for you and it turns out there might be some truth in that statement.

A new study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine saw researchers from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel focusing on the effects of drinking moderately each day.
The 224 participants included a group of well-controlled type-2 diabetes sufferers who also had a low risk of alcohol abuse, as diabetes sufferers are more likely to develop cardiovascular disease. The participants were then split into three smaller groups and told to either drink five ounces of mineral water, dry white wine or red wine each night. In addition, they ate a Mediterranean diet for an entire year.
What they discovered was truly miraculous – turns out, those who drank red wine every day had significantly increased their levels of good HDL cholesterol and had a better cholesterol ratio compared to the group that drank water.
The red and white wine drinkers also had better sleep quality and overall, the boozing didn’t have any negative health affects whatsoever.
So there you have it – drinking alcohol daily is good for you. Having said that, they were only drinking moderately, so this doesn’t mean you should start binging on a daily basis. Although this guy who says the key to long life is drinking four bottles of wine each day might disagree.
