We often speculate about just when robots are going to become so smart that they decide to kill the human race and it looks like we could be edging further to that dystopian future as a self driving Tesla car has already taken it upon themselves to murder another autonomous robot.

The incident happened over in Las Vegas in the build up to the Consumer Electronics Show going down in the city this week. The $2000 a day rental robot from Promobot was run over by a Tesla self driving car as it made its way to the display booth on its own. Unfortunately for some reason one of them stepped out of line and ended up getting run over by the Tesla that was in self drive mode.

You can see footage of the incident below, which is pretty stupid to be honest:

Lol yeah that was way less dramatic than I thought it was going to be. Anyway, the fact that this is so stupid has led to many people believing it’s a PR stunt by Promobot to gain interest in their company and to be honest I kinda believe them because the whole thing is just really really dumb, especially these comments from their Development Director Oleg Kivokurtsev:

Of course we are vexed.

We brought this robot here from Philadelphia to participate at CES. Now it neither cannot participate in the event or be recovered.

We will conduct an internal investigation and find out why the robot went to the roadway.

I mean nobody says the word vexed do they? And why can’t it be recovered? Just seems to me kinda like something is up with it really doesn’t it? Something kinda fishy. Whether that’s a promo stun or the beginning of the robot revolution is anyone’s guess though isn’t it?

For more robots, check out this robot that was gifted with intelligence and immediately decided to kill itself. Typical.
