Andre Agassi is one of the greatest icons that tennis has ever known, being world number one a record six times and being one of the only players ever to win the Gold Slam – all four grand slams and a gold medal at the Olympics.

Unfortunately, since his retirement ten years ago Agassi hasn’t really been involved with tennis and the sport has been a sadder place without his larger than life personality. But that’s no longer the case, as Agassi made his stunning return last night at the US Open to announce his partnership with legendary coffee brand Lavazza for a children’s charity initiative. This is an extension of Agassi’s charity work which has been going on for years and marks a new chapter in it from August 30th with Lavazza.

The alliance premiered in style last night with the following advertising spot at the event:

Whilst that’s a pretty cool advert featuring a lot of Agassi’s iconic moments – and costumes of course – it doesn’t really explain what the promotion is actually doing, which is actually pretty cool as well and incredibly important. Basically, Lavazza are planning to donate €1 for every coffee sold in one of their shops to the USTA Foundation to benefit the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education. Good work guys.

For Agassi, the partnership makes perfect sense:

In my autobiography I write about my life-long love for coffee, so it is a natural fit for me to be partnering with Lavazza, a company that has been at the forefront of the industry from day one.

Lavazza not only invented the coffee blend more than 120 years ago, but also works with passion to make the best quality and authentic Italian coffee I have known and loved for decades.

So if you’re heading to the US Open make sure you pick up a cup of the good stuff because you know your money will be going to a good cause. If you’re not then don’t fret – the partnership looks set to continue at all major tennis events in the near future, so it won’t be long before you’ll be able to do your bit to help out as well.

And enjoy a lovely cup of ‘I’m Back’ too of course. Make sure you drink it like an absolute badass too.
