Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik is seeking parole after insisting he is no longer a danger to society. Breivik killed 77 people in a bomb and gun massacre in 2011, and after 10 years in prison, the 42-year-old finally got the chance to present his case in court this week.

Breivik made his case by throwing up some Nazi salutes and presenting himself as the leader of the Norwegian neo-Nazi movement. He also walked into the court room holding a poster that read ‘STOP YOUR GENOCIDE AGAINST OUR WHITE NATIONS!’, which he also had pinned to his blazer and bag. Probably not the best way to convince a judge that you’re a harmless little bunny rabbit, right?

Indeed, Breivik knows he won’t get parole and was instead using the platform to get his message out and inspire likeminded extremists and white supremacists. Not to mention flexing on all his victims’ families in the process.

Breivik was jailed for 21 years (a life sentence in Norway) back in 2011. After months of meticulous planning, he set off a car bomb outside the government headquarters in Oslo, killing eight people and wounding dozens. He then drove to the island of Utoya, where he opened fire on the annual summer camp of the left-wing Labor Party’s youth wing. A total of 69 people there were killed, most of them teenagers, before Breivik surrendered to police.

The sentence can be extended indefinitely, but under Norwegian law, Breivik is eligible to seek parole after 10 years. Not that he’d actually want to escape Norwegian prison life – the guy has it sweet in there. Get a load of this from Al Jazeera:

Breivik has three cells to himself in the high-security wing of Skien prison. The cells are equipped with video game consoles, a television, a DVD player, electronic typewriter, newspapers and exercise machines. He also has daily access to a larger exercise yard.

Not too shabby, especially for a mass-murdering terrorist. Sounds like Norway is the place to be if you want to commit atrocious crimes and then be looked after in accommodation better than your average uni digs. On the plus side, this guy is never being let out into the real world again. He’ll be denied parole and then hopefully that’s the last we’ll ever hear of him. Good riddance!
