Ever since the Johnny Depp /Amber Heard trial, the question of whether or not she would reprise the role of Mera in ‘Aquaman: The Last Kingdom’ has been up in the air, especially after about 4.4 million people signed a petition to have her removed from the movie due to her massive decline in popularity in the wake of losing the case.

However, thanks to a trailer for the movie that premiered at ComicCon this week, it has now been confirmed that she’ll be showing up for some more Aquaman related hijinks, although probably in a heavily reduced role due to her proximity to the Depp issue. Reports say that Mera will no longer be the main supporting character in the movie and that this honour will instead fall to Patrick Wilson, who will play Aquaman’s half-brother Orm Marius.

Unfortunately, we can’t actually see the trailer right now because it hasn’t been released on the internet, but the word is that Heard is seen briefly in a couple of underwater fight scenes and doesn’t have any speaking parts. Sounds about right – they were even trying to cut her out before the results of the trial by saying that she had a ‘lack of chemistry’ with Jason Momoa too.

The craziest part of all this to me is just how long that this Aquaman movie has taken to be released. I’m not sure when they filmed it but it seems as though we’ve been talking about whether or not Heard would be in it for years at this point.

I actually thought when I saw the headline that this one had come out and they had decided to cast her in the next movie because it had taken so long. I suppose they were waiting for the trial to ease its way out of public consciousness but even so it seems like a hell of a wait for all those Aquaman fans out there. Oh wait..

For more of the same, check out Amber Heard admitting she did regrettable things but always told the truth. Not sure anyone believes her now.
