Who would have thought Alec Baldwin was the easily triggered type to just fire off like that? Well, fair play to him for sticking to his guns I guess. Just not sure that threatening to use an umbrella as a weapon is the best play for him at the moment, all things considered. Of course it’s annoying having journalists hound you with difficult questions on the street, but that’s what you sign up for when you’re an A-list celebrity who just shot someone to death, right?
Obviously these are tough and surreal times for Alec Baldwin. From the fatal shooting on the set of his movie, to his bizarre interview last week where he claimed he didn’t pull the trigger and doesn’t feel guilty about the shooting. Baldwin believes it is “highly unlikely” he’ll face criminal charges for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, but the Santa Fe District Attorney hasn’t ruled out the option, saying “certain individuals may be criminally culpable for his/her actions and/or inactions on the set of Rust.”
Everyone involved in the handling and use of firearms on the set had a duty to behave in a manner such that the safety of others was protected, and it appears that certain actions and inactions contributed to this outcome.
Considering Baldwin was holding the gun when it fired, and that he’s the executive producer of the movie and thus responsible for everyone who was hired and everything that happens on set, it doesn’t look too good for him. Probably not doing himself any favours by talking about the incident so publicly either. Oh well, we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.
