Charlie Kirk ‘Killer’ Identified As 22-Year-Old Tyler Robinson
The NY Post and NBC are reporting that the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s assassination has been identified as Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah resident.
Here’s what we know so far about Charlie Kirk shooting suspect Tyler Robinson, per MailOnline:
- Robinson, 22, confessed to his dad Matt, who has worked at the Washington County Sheriff’s Department for 27 years
- His dad turned him in following the confession.
- His mum, Amber, works for a company which provides care for people with disabilities
- Robinson was a student at Utah State University on a scholarship
- He has two younger brothers
- He was taken into custody at about 11pm local time Thursday in southern Utah
Earlier today, President Trump had said on live TV ‘with a high degree of certainty’ that the suspect in the Charlie Kirk shooting had been arrested.
He told Fox & Friends: ‘I think we have him. Somebody very close to him turned him in.’
Sure enough, that seems to be the case. It’s interesting how after 3 days in a state with thousands of AI-powered surveillance cameras with facial and behavioural recognition technologies and all the rest of it, the FBI still couldn’t track this kid down. Fortunately, it sounds as though his old man turned him in or at least convinced him to turn himself in after he confessed to what he did.
So now I guess we wait for the FBI to either tell us that Tyler Robinson’s social media feed was filled with leftist agenda, or they go completely radio silent on his political leanings. It will also be interesting to hear whether anyone explains how this 22-year-old kid managed to land such a precise shot to Charlie Kirk’s neck from such a distance. He must have had some pretty substantial training/experience with firearms to be able to pull that one off, right? Not to mention how he managed to skillfully slip away from the scene and remain at large for so long.
Sad day for the dad, in any case. Imagine finding out your child is a murderer and having to turn him in knowing he may end up with the death penalty. Must have been a very hard decision, but ultimately one he felt he had to make.
Utah is in fact one of the few states that is able to carry out executions via firing squad, so watch this space, I guess.
More as it develops…
