Hereditary was undoubtedly one of the best movies of last year and possibly one of the best horror movies of all time – it was so good I went to the cinema to see it twice, seriously – so I’m pretty stoked to learn that writer/director Ari Aster is going to release his next movie just over a year after his first.

The trailer for ‘Midsommar’ dropped yesterday and it looks suitably creepy and full of dread, even if the colours are a lot brighter than in Hereditary. The film revolves around Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor heading to a festival in Scandinavia that takes place once every 90 years for 9 days and well, if you take a look at the trailer it looks like everyone is creeping around being weird and something is definitely not right there – much like in Hereditary:

Oh man you just know that only about half of those people are going to get out of this alive and that they’re going to be tortured and devoured in all manner of gruesome ways, don’t you? Maybe even King Paimon himself will show up as well?

Unfortunately, we’ve got quite a while to wait until we get to find out as it’s not released until August 16th, but I’ve got a feeling that it’s gonna be worth it.

For more of the same, check out how Hereditary was scientifically proven as the scariest movie of the year. Terrifying.
