It seems like politicians are never far away from a scandal, but this is the first time that anyone has ever been accused of rape in the Houses Of Parliament.

Sam Armstrong is the aide in question, who is the chief of staff to Tory MP for South Thanet Craig McKinlay. The alleged rape is said to have happened in the early hours of Friday morning after a large group of Tory aides and their female guests had a massive booze session on House of Lords’ terrace. Apparently a witness said that ‘some of them were very drunk indeed’.

Armstrong is then said to have taken a female guest to McKinlay’s office in the Norman Shaw North complex. It has now been raided and sealed as a potential crime scene – Armstrong was arrested and questioned as soon as the woman raised the alarm at about 1 a.m. on Friday, but has since been bailed. He’s declined to comment and has been banned from entering the Parliamentary estate until further notice.

No idea how this is going to play out but it’s believed to have been the first time that a woman has reported rape within the Houses Of Parliament. It would seem that Armstrong would probably be found guilty given the proximity of the woman reporting it to the actual incident, but you never know what’s going to happen with these cases so we’ll just have to wait until it goes to court.

Just another classic political mess in this country. To make you feel slightly better about it, check out these videos of politicians beating the shit out of each other in their respective parliaments from all over the world. At least we’re not that bad eh?
