The internet went pretty crazy earlier this week over a story that Conor McGregor had apparently beaten up a high ranking gangster over in Ireland and now had a hit out on his life, but obviously a story like that needs to be taken with a pinch of salt because it’s so ridiculous.

This is Conor McGregor though, so you never know and it’s probably best to go straight to the source. Unfortunately, this is also Conor McGregor so you’re probably not going to get a straight answer either.

Conor was today appearing in an Irish court to pay a fine and plead guilty to a speeding ticket, when a bunch of reporters asked him about the alleged hit on his way out. Conor responded in typical Conor fashion, not really giving anything away either way:

Yeah, ‘come and get me’ whilst I speed away in my completely sick car. Don’t worry about it. Even if it was true they probably couldn’t catch him in that baby. Doubt he’ll be too worried about getting another speeding ticket either.

Conor’s dad Tony gave a much more straight answer about the situation though when he was questioned about it:

It’s grown legs and it’s getting that ridiculous – it’s become funny. We have nothing to fear here whatsoever. There’s no one after us for anything.

We’re a law-abiding family and we’ve stayed a law-abiding family.

There you have it. Hopefully this story is true and we hear more about it in the coming days, although I’m severely doubting it to be honest. I can see it getting more entertaining before it’s finally squashed once and for all though.

If you missed the start of this story, then click here for all the details. Pretty mad.
