A whole bunch of nerdy MCU fans went absolutely wild a couple of weeks ago when the new trailer for Dr Strange’s latest escapade ‘In The Multiverse Of Madness’ dropped during the Superbowl, mainly because they all thought that they heard Patrick Stewart doing a voiceover – meaning that the X Men could finally be making their way into this iteration of the Marvel Universe.

Obviously we had the same speculation about ‘Spiderman: Homecoming’ before it came out with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield both messing us around and saying that they weren’t appearing in the movie – even though it was very obvious that they were – but this time Patrick Stewart has taken the unusual step of confirming in a podcast that he will be reprising his role as Professor Xavier. Here’s what he had to say when he recently appeared on the Jack’s Takes podcast:

Well, I had my phone turned off as it happened, so I didn’t hear anything.

It wasn’t until the next morning when I woke up and looked at my phone and found that I had been bombarded with responses and that my PR people had sent me reactions that they had detailed and passed onto me… I actually didn’t recognize my own voice, it sounded different.

Whether I had a cold or something at the time, I don’t know.

But I was astonished, and all they saw was the back of my shoulder, and I think my earlobe, nothing else.

There would have been so many connections made. But, uh, it pleased me.

I don’t look at a lot of social media, and that is mostly a time issue. But I must say, before bedtime on Sunday evening, I’d had plenty of communications from friends and some people I hardly knew at all, making reference to, ‘Ah, is that you? Is that you?

Well, of course, you know, I was just at home, waiting to watch football. So, how could it possibly have been me? So, we’ll have to wait and see, won’t we?

Ok so maybe he isn’t exactly 100% confirming it, but it pretty much sounds like it’s as good as done doesn’t it? Would be so sick if this opened the door for the X-Men to appear in the MCU, but I’m not really sure how they’re gonna make that make sense. Still, they normally tend to pull it off over at Marvel Studios, so this should be a good one when it’s finally released on May 6th. Can’t wait.
