I doubt getting the most liked photograph in Instagram history really means too much to Lionel Messi after he finally won the World Cup on Sunday after almost two decades of trying, but it’s still probably fairly nice for the guy as well.

However, when someone overtakes someone else then there’s always a loser and in this particular battle it was that weird picture of an egg that somehow managed to gather over 57 million likes in a few days about four years ago. The internet can be a crazy place huh?
Anyway, the egg has now decided to release the following statement on its Instagram story regarding Messi taking its crown:
Yawn boring. If you’re gonna say something at least come up with something that isn’t the most tired debate of all time that’s literally just been settled by the guy who stole your most liked photograph on Instagram title off you as well. Whatever you think in terms of football, I reckon that most people would agree that there’s no way Ronaldo would ever have got that many likes.
Anyway, whilst that was a completely lame response, some of the memes that have come out the other end of it have been absolutely superb. Get a load of this:
