I’ve never really thought about the end of the world, but I think when I have I hadn’t really considered how television channels might cover the events.

Thankfully though, billionaire Ted Turner came up with a scenario when he founded CNN back in the 1980s and made a video for the situation. Back in the that era, the threat of nuclear was was very much in the air, so Turner thought it was highly necessary to have such a protocol in place to take his viewers to the end of the world.

And his take on it couldn’t be stranger. The clip shows a marching band playing iconic hymn ‘Nearer My God To Thee’ – which was also allegedly one of the final songs played on the Titanic – outside Turner’s mansion before slowly fading to black.

Here’s the leaked clip and what Turner had to say about it all (make sure you watch until the end):

We’ll be on, and we will cover the end of the world, live, and that will be our last event.

We’ll play the National Anthem only one time, on the first of June [the day of CNN’s launch], and when the end of the world comes, we’ll play Nearer My God To Thee before we sign off.

Lol that explosion is a bit much isn’t it? And very budget by today’s standards. It’s also very naive to think that they could time it with the actual nuclear explosion that would signal the end of the world, but I suppose you have to rate them for having it in place at all. Or is it just super strange?

Anyway, now we just have to wait for the end of the world to see it in real time. Looking forward to it!
