We’ve all heard of blackface and understand by now why it’s so controversial, but have you ever seen a person go full-on blackbody?

Bosnian TV host Hana Hadziavdagic Tabakovic is getting ripped online after she thought it would be a good idea to edit a photo of herself to make her skin appear darker in a bizarre show of support to George Floyd and Black Lives Matter.

Hana captioned the ill-judged post for her 548,000 followers:

In a racist society, it’s not enough to just say that you are not a racist. One should be loud against racism.

It wasn’t long before the backlash started and she deleted the post and apologised:

I apologise publicly if I offended anyone, it was not my intention. Whoever wanted to understand why I did it, they understood, whoever seeks something bad in all good, that speaks for itself. If anyone on social media is fighting for equality, human rights and love, then that is me.

So just to recap, Hana’s tactic for fighting racism was to take this photo:

And Photoshop it into this:

And just like that, racism was eradicated.

The ‘funniest’ part is that she couldn’t even be bothered to black up properly, she just took an old photo of herself and did a piss poor edit job where she just looks like she’s drowned herself in a bucket of fake tan.

The only thing I can say to sorta defend her is that maybe Bosnia hadn’t got the memo about blackface yet, and so she genuinely thought this was a good idea and had no reason to believe it would backfire in her face. Oh well. It’s the thought that counts… right?
