Tron: Legacy Is The Worst Movie I Have Ever Seen

Jeff Bridges isn’t much better but is at least funnier. Bridges has pretty much made his career and reputation as being ‘a cool guy’ in real life from one movie (do you even know any of his other movies except The Big Lebowski? The original TRON doesn’t count) and now seems to be playing that role in real life, constantly stating ‘man’ at the end of every sentence and trying to start a CCR cover band. He pretty much plays himself then in this movie and spouts spaced out psychobabble that doesn’t mean anything in about 99% of his lines:  ‘you’re messing with my zen thing, man’ ‘Wireless connections? I had the idea for that in ’85 man’. My favourite of his lines was when he tried to explain how ISO’s were created – ‘there was no explanation man. The conditions were correct’. Of course that doesn’t make any sense, but in this movie even trying to provide an explanation deserves some praise. Jeff Bridges recently stated in an interview less than a week ago that he hasn’t even bothered to watch it yet, which kind of tells its own story as to his opinion on it: ‘it’s bio digital jazz man’

The action is also fairly non-existant following the initial gladiator battles and car races. These are vaguely exciting to be fair. The final battle, where our heroes fly an X wing and have to shoot down CLU and a bunch of other X wings is particularly bad, and basically consists of some video game shots cut with Hecklund in a ball pressing a trigger and shouting ‘yeah’, and Bridges piloting the X wing shouting ‘radical, man’. It’s really boring. The heroes win when TRON decides to help them, again for reasons which are completely unexplained. Again, but louder: WHY TRON, WHY?

This review has already been really long and I apologise, but there is just so much wrong with this movie and script I had to get it all down. Even at this point now, I can still think of a bunch of other things I hated about it without trying. I absolutely cannot recommend Tron:Legacy on any level, although the soundtrack from Daft Punk is pretty good but you can just listen to that somewhere else and doing ANYTHING ELSE and have a way better time doing it.

Tron: Legacy is probably the most retarded movie I have ever seen and makes absolutely no sense, and not in a cool David Lynch kind of way – I would rather watch Inland Empire again than this. Maybe if you’re suicidal but lack the balls to pull the trigger, then go and see this. That’s it. Boring, nonsensical and stupid.
