Tommy Robinson has been arrested at Luton Airport after returning from a short holiday he took the day after he (allegedly) knocked out a 64-year-old man at St. Pancras station in London.
As the video of him pacing around the man’s unconscious body went viral last week, Tommy took a flight to Tenerife but then returned to the UK last night on a plane arriving from Faro, Portugal.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: ‘Officers from BTP have tonight (4 August) arrested a 42-year-old man from Bedfordshire in connection to an assault at St Pancras station on 28 July.
‘The arrest took place at Luton Airport shortly after 6.30pm, following a notification that the man had boarded an incoming flight from Faro.
‘The man had been wanted for questioning after leaving the country to Tenerife in the early hours of 29 July following the incident at St Pancras.
‘He was arrested on suspicion of GBH (Grievous Bodily Harm) and will now be taken to custody for questioning.’
Imagine knowing full well that you’ll be arrested the moment you land back in the UK, and still choosing Luton as your last sight of freedom for a while? Well, I suppose it would make prison seem nicer by comparison, but still.
The question is – what happens to Tommy now? Unless the CCTV footage from St. Pancras shows that he either a) did not assault the man or b) had no option but to do so, then he’s definitely getting locked up again. Which means he’ll miss the big event/rally he’s got planned in London next month, where no doubt he’ll be lauded as some kind of political prisoner whose been unjustly imprisoned, despite the fact he literally allegedly knocked out a 64-year-old man.
For what it’s worth, the victim was taken to a major trauma centre with ‘serious injuries’ after the ordeal. British Transport Police confirmed he was discharged from hospital last Wednesday.
