The ‘Four Lads In Jeans’ meme was notorious back in 2019 after it went viral for signifying everything you didn’t want in a night out, but I never contemplated that it would ever be immortalised in the form of a statue.

Turns out I didn’t dream big enough though as the scene of the crime All Bar One in Birmingham have now commissioned celebrated papier mache artist Tat Vision to create a statue of the boys. It’s going to be unveiled tomorrow as part of the Birmingham Big Weekender.

Check out what Tat Vision had to say about the project below:

The idea was inspired by the ‘Ronaldo statue’ and ‘Boulton, Watt and Murdoch’ near the library.

I shipped the idea of doing it for the Commonwealth Games, but it was too late. Fortunately, I was put in contact with Birmingham Big Weekender and had the go-ahead from them. The statue will be there all weekend as part of an event.

It took me a few weeks, on-and-off, to make. I used four women’s mannequins, which I covered in tight-fitting ladies’ jeans and tops. The heads are made from papier-mâché, and all of it was painted to have a nice, shiny bronze effect.

I’m happy with the way it looks, just the heads to attach. Hope they don’t fall off!

Kind of a shame we can’t see the full version of the statue yet, but I’m sure it’ll be doing the rounds on social media come tomorrow night. Hopefully the original four lads themselves show up to pose alongside it was well. It would be too much.

For more of the same, check out why wearing skinny jeans is actually dangerous for you. Crazy.
